Imperial, California - The Imperial Irrigation District appeared before Imperial County Superior Court Judge Brooks Anderholt, Tuesday, to defend itself in a contempt-of-court lawsuit filed by farmer Mike Abatti. This is an extension of the litigation brought against the district by Abatti in 2013 that challenged IID’s Equitable Distribution Plan, and is currently on appeal before the Fourth District Court of Appeal.

El Centro, California - Friday morning, Governor Gavin Newsom unveiled California’s $222 billion spending plan for Fiscal Year 2020-2021.  This marks the official beginning of the State budget process, which will culminate with the Legislature’s approval of a State budget in mid-June.  Included in the plan is the proposal for investments in the New River and Salton Sea.

El Centro, California - On January 4, 2020, at 3:21 a.m. the Imperial Police Department responded to a battery investigation involving an El Centro officer. The preliminary investigation resulted in the arrest of Alejandra Hurtado. She was ultimately booked on multiple charges.
