Rochester, Minnesota - It is important for people in mature age group to be tested for hepatitis C. Studies have shown that Americans born between 1945 and 1965 are five times more likely than other individuals to be infected with the virus. Most people who have hepatitis C do not show symptoms, so the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that anyone who falls in the high-risk age range get tested.

Rochester, Minnesota - The ongoing outbreak of yellow fever in Angola has global public health officials closely monitoring the situation. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) updated its rapid risk assessment due to concerns of potential international spread of the mosquito-borne disease. The ECDC says, “Currently, all regions in Angola should be considered as areas at high risk of transmission of yellow fever. The yellow fever outbreak in Uganda is unrelated to the outbreak in Angola."

Scottsdale, Arizona - The authors of a small study published in "Diabetes Care" on April 13, 2016, found that interrupting prolonged sitting every half hour with 3 minutes of light-intensity walking or simple resistance activities reduced the after-meal blood sugar and other cardio-metabolic risk markers in patients with Type 2 diabetes.

Rochester, Minnesota - Variation in mood is normal. People’s moods usually are related to their thoughts about the events happening around them, along with events in their recent past. Teens’ reactions to those events may seem extreme. But, that doesn’t necessarily signal an underlying problem, such as depression. However, there are specific symptoms of depression to watch for. If you see signs of depression in your daughter, ask her about them, and, if you are concerned, make an appointment for her to see a health care provider for an evaluation as soon as possible.
