Washington, DC - The U.S. labor market is the strongest it has been in the last half century, as President Trump’s pro-growth economic policies continue boosting labor demand and lowering structural barriers to entering the labor market. Economic data presented in the 2020 Economic Report of the President, which was released Thursday, show that recent labor market gains disproportionately benefit Americans who were previously left behind.

However, the first three years of the Trump Administration prove that a prolonged period of low growth was far from inevitable. Washington, DC - Thursday, the Council of Economic Advisers released its annual Economic Report of the President. The Report shows that three years into the Trump Administration, the U.S. economy continues to outperform pre-2016 election expectations, delivering inclusive gains to American families. As President Trump wrote in his letter introducing the Report, “These results did not come about by accident. Instead, they were supported by our foundational pillars for economic growth that put Americans first, including tax cuts, deregulation, energy independence, and trade renegotiation.”

Galvaston, Texas - I was in my late forties when I saw the first print ad for a “smartphone.” It was a Blackberry, on a towel, with sand in the background. “Now you can bring the office to the beach!” it said. Why on earth would anyone want to do that? Wasn’t the whole point to be able to get away from things? So now you could sort-of be at the office, while sort-of being at the beach at the same time? What about the roar of the ocean, the sand between your toes, the beach birds looking for dinner? We’d trade that in to be in constant touch with . . . whom? Who was that important?
