Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will join Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins and Senate President pro Tempore Kevin de León tomorrow in Sacramento to announce emergency drought legislation.

Sacramento, California - California’s agricultural community gathered today on the west steps of the State Capitol to show, see and share the bounty of our state’s farmers and ranchers. It was a perfect day for such a celebration (although to be perfectly honest, the farmers would have preferred rain). In keeping with the United Nations’ declaration of 2015 as the International Year of Soils, the theme for Ag Day this year was “Breaking New Ground.”

Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services today announced the completion of an assessment of the San Diego Police Department’s policies and practices for preventing, detecting and investigating misconduct.  

Sacramento, California - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia spoke today at the State Water Resources Control Board’s public workshop regarding the status of the Salton Sea. In his address, Assemblymember Garcia noted the health urgency and stated the following:

Escondido, California - The Avian Propagation Center at the San Diego Zoo has two new residents, a pair of Dalmatian pelicans - 11 and two days old. The pair arrived at the Zoo from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, after their parents were unable to raise them upon hatching. Animal care staff at the Zoo’s off-exhibit Avian Propagation Center will hand-raise the birds for approximately 50 to 60 days, until they are strong enough to return to their flock at the Safari Park.
