Washington, DC - DNA is often considered the most reliable form of forensic evidence, and this reputation is based on the way DNA experts use statistics. When they compare the DNA left at a crime scene with the DNA of a suspect, experts generate statistics that describe how closely those DNA samples match. A jury can then take those match statistics into account when deciding guilt or innocence.

San Jose, California - A federal grand jury in San Jose indicted Xiaolang Zhang on Thursday, July 12, 2018, for theft of trade secrets, announced Acting United States Attorney Alex G. Tse and Federal Bureau of Investigations, Special Agent in Charge John F. Bennett.  Zhang was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Virginia K. DeMarchi on charges of theft of trade secrets, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1832.  Zang entered a plea of not guilty at the hearing.

Los Angeles, California - A former staffer for a member of the United States Congress (Janice Hahn) was sentenced last week to 18 months in prison for bribery and attempted extortion after demanding and accepting $5,000 to prevent the closure of a marijuana shop in the City of Compton.
