Washington, DC - To solidify the partnership between the young people of Egypt and the United States, the U.S. Government is announcing the launch of the U.S.-Egypt Higher Education Initiative.  The United States seeks to provide young Egyptians with the skills to obtain the jobs that will both help Egypt meet the needs of a 21st century economy, with a particular focus on science, technology and entrepreneurship, and on women’s education, and provide meaningful employment to the thousands of Egyptians who enter the work force each year.

The workshop, hosted by Embassy Yaoundé, will bring together senior-level officials from the Governments of Cameroon, Chad, Niger, and Nigeria to develop a regional border security strategy to address emerging border security challenges and help degrade Boko Haram’s ability to penetrate borders and cause humanitarian suffering in the Lake Chad Basin.
