Washington, DC - Over the past 25 years, globalization of drug manufacturing has prompted the FDA to change its regulatory landscape. The shift to overseas production of U.S. goods, including some drugs and their components, predominantly occurred in the early 2000s. It added new complexities to our supply chain. This required the FDA to take different steps to ensure that our drug manufacturing surveillance program kept pace with the evolving landscape and make sure consumers continued to receive safe and effective drug products.

Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced the selection of 42 projects totaling $80 million to support advanced vehicle technologies that can enable more affordable mobility, strengthen domestic energy security, reduce our dependence on foreign sources of critical materials, and enhance U.S. economic growth. This work supports DOE’s goal to invest in early-stage research of transportation technologies that can give families and businesses greater choice in how they meet their mobility needs.

Bridgeport, Connecticut - John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that George Garofano, 26, of North Branford, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in Bridgeport to eight months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for engaging in a phishing scheme that gave him illegal access to more than 200 Apple iCloud accounts, many of which belonged to members of the entertainment industry.
