Washington, DC - Congressman Juan Vargas, serving on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs Subcommittees on the Middle East and North Africa, and on Terrorism, Nonproliferation and Trade, issued the following statement on the extension of Iran nuclear negotiations:

“I find it worrying that nuclear negotiations with Iran have been extended for seven months, without additional pressure or sanctions.  Although the Administration affirms that no deal is better than a bad deal, unending talks will make it more difficult for us to ensure that Iran drops its nuclear weapons program.  I am looking forward to working with a bipartisan Congress to build new sanctions in the event that Iran fails to meet its new deadline of June 30.”
