Escondido, California - Guests visiting the San Diego Zoo Safari Park’s Tull Family Tiger Trail exhibit this morning (Thursday, March 29, 2018) were delighted to see Bengal tiger cub Moka and his Sumatran tiger buddy Rakan, once again enjoying some playtime together—running, pouncing and climbing in an outdoor area. Two days ago, veterinarians determined that Moka was recovering well from his March 6 emergency surgery to correct intestinal adhesions, and could to go back outside and resume his normal routine. Until today, he had been spending his days recovering in his bedroom area at Tiger Trail—with his best friend Rakan by his side—under the care of veterinarians and keepers.

Sacramento, California - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra today announced that the California Department of Justice (DOJ) will be stepping in to provide independent oversight of the investigation into the shooting death of Stephon Alonzo Clark. During a press conference with Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hahn, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg, District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert and Sacramento community leaders, Attorney General Becerra pledged that the California DOJ will lend its experience to ensure a fair and impartial investigation. The California DOJ will also evaluate law enforcement policies, procedures, and practices to identify ways to achieve safer outcomes.

Sacramento, California - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra Tuesday filed a lawsuit against the Trump Administration over its decision to add a citizenship question to the 2020 U.S. Census Bureau questionnaire. An accurate population count of all individuals – regardless of citizenship status – is mandated every ten years under the U.S. Constitution. In addition to determining Congressional representation and distribution of federal funding, an accurate population count enables states and localities to identify the need for critical services like disaster relief, infrastructure projects, public health assistance, schools, and police and fire protection.

Sacramento, California - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra, joining a bipartisan coalition of 37 Attorneys General, Monday sent a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg calling for answers to reports that millions of Facebook users’ personal data was provided to third parties without their knowledge or informed consent. In the letter, the Attorneys General demand to know about Facebook’s role in the manipulation of users’ data by Cambridge Analytica without those users’ knowledge, as well as Facebook’s policies and procedures for protecting users’ private data.
