Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

 

 

Abby Snay, 63, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California State Rehabilitation Council. Snay has been executive director at Jewish Vocational Services since 1984, where she has held several positions since 1975, including assistant director, supervisor and counselor. She is chair of the National Skills Coalition Board of Directors and a member of the California Workforce Investment Board and its Health Workforce Development Council and of the National Council for Workforce Education Board of Directors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Snay is a Democrat.

 

Sonia Fernandez, 42, of Pomona, has been reappointed to the California Employment Training Panel, where she has served since 2011. Fernandez has been marketing representative at the Laborers-Employers Cooperation and Education Trust since 2005. She was a database manager at the Laborers Southern California Joint Apprenticeship Committee from 2002 to 2005, an accounts payable and receivable clerk at the Holiday Candy Company Inc. from 1996 to 1997 and served as a personnel administration clerk in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1993 to 2006. Fernandez is a member of Disabled American Veterans. She earned a Master of Arts degree in leadership and organizational studies from Azusa Pacific University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Fernandez is a Democrat.

 

Janice Roberts, 63, of Modesto, has been reappointed to the California Employment Training Panel, where she has been vice chair since 2013 and has served as a member since 2006. Roberts has been economic development manager at PepsiCo since 2008, where she has held several positions since 1996, including Frito-Lay manufacturing department manager and supply chain productivity manager. She was California manufacturing department manager at Anheuser-Busch, Eagle Snacks from 1995 to 1996 and operations manufacturing manager at Sequoia Forest Industries from 1973 to 1995. She is a member of the Network of Executive Women. Roberts earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Brandman University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Roberts is a Republican.

 

Christine Bouma, 48, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation, where she has served since 2012. Bouma has been president at Capitol Connection since 2000. She was a mathematics and computer science teacher for the Hesperia Unified School District from 1989 to 1999 and an instructor at Victor Valley Community College from 1991 to 1998. She is president of the Institute of Governmental Advocates. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Bouma is a Democrat.

Sean McNally, 58, of Bakersfield, has been appointed to the Commission on Health and Safety and Workers’ Compensation, where he has served since 2007. McNally has been president of KBA Engineering since 2013. He was vice president of human resources and government affairs at Grimmway Farms from 1997 to 2013, partner and attorney at Hanna, Brophy, MacLean, McAleer and Jensen from 1991 to 1997 and was an independent general contractor from 1984 to 1990. McNally served as a municipal court deputy at the Kern County District Attorney’s Office from 1983 to 1984. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. McNally is registered without party preference.
