Washington, DC - The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that it is requiring CVS Health Corporation (CVS) and Aetna Inc. (Aetna) to divest Aetna’s Medicare Part D prescription drug plan business for individuals in order to proceed with their $69 billion merger.  The proposed divestiture to WellCare Health Plans, Inc. (WellCare), an experienced health insurer focused on government-sponsored health plans, including Medicare Part D individual prescription drug plans, would fully resolve the Department’s competition concerns.

Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of the Treasury, as chair of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS), Wednesday issued temporary regulations to protect critical American technology and intellectual property from potentially harmful foreign acquisitions.  These regulations put to use tools enacted as part of the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act of 2018 (FIRRMA), which Congress passed on an overwhelmingly bipartisan basis and that President Trump signed into law in August.
