Washington, DC - A new study released by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau today found that many advertisements for reverse mortgages contain incomplete or inaccurate information that can pose a serious risk to seniors who take out such loans.  The study was issued in conjunction with an advisory to consumers warning them to “watch out for misleading and confusing reverse mortgage advertisements.”

It describes the warning signs of a notario scam, where to find help with the immigration process, and how to report scams to the FTC.

Washington, DC - A former campaign finance manager and political consultant was sentenced today in the Eastern District of Virginia to 24 months for coordinating $325,000 in federal election campaign contributions by a political action committee (PAC) to a congressional campaign committee.  This is the first U.S. prosecution based on the coordination of campaign contributions between political committees.
