Washington, DC - Today, Congressman Juan Vargas (CA-51) proudly announced the launch of the 2014 Congressional Art Competition. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in each congressional district and throughout the nation. The winning works are displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
“The nationwide Congressional Art Competition is an excellent opportunity to showcase the great creative talents of our high school students and recognize our gifted young artists,” said Rep. Vargas. “I am looking forward to this year’s art submissions and I am thrilled to have the chance to select a new, highly talented student to represent California’s 51st Congressional District for 2014.”
The competition is open to all high schools students in the 51st Congressional District. The deadline to submit original works of art is April 18, 2014 at 5:00 PM.
