El Centro Sector Border Patrol Arrests Lead to Prosecution and Conviction for 18 Illegal Immigrants

Imperial Valley, California - El Centro Sector Border Patrol enforcement operations have led to the recent arrests, convictions, and successful sentencing of 18 illegal immigrants, all of which had prior convictions for other crimes.

The apprehensions took place earlier this year near the cities of Calexico, El Centro, and Indio, California. The illegal immigrants, many of which have extensive criminal histories, were presented for prosecution on federal criminal charges and sentenced accordingly.

HERNANDEZ-Mercado, Juan Cruz Sentenced 21 months in federal prison
RAMIREZ-Hernandez, Jose Sentenced 30 months in federal prison
LOSANO-Sanchez, , Luciano Sentenced 18 months in federal prison
ROMO-Castillo, Salvador Sentenced 15 months in federal prison
OLIVARRIA, Cesar Alberto Sentenced 24 months in federal prison
OLAYO-Xochitl, Marco Antonio Sentenced 18 months in federal prison
RAMIREZ-Barraza, Osvaldo Sentenced 15 months in federal prison
AVATO-Emmanuel, Alejandro Sentenced 46 months in federal prison
SOTO-Gutierrez, Jose Sentenced 30 months in federal prison
FLORES, Luis Fernando Sentenced 24 months in federal prison
MONTOYA-Sosa, Cesar Sentenced 41 months in federal prison
NORIEGA-Castaneda, Benjamin Sentenced 24 months in federal prison

The convicted individuals will be formally deported to their country of origin after serving their prison sentences.
