Washington, DC - The Department of Justice Thursday announced that three pharmaceutical companies – Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc (Jazz), Lundbeck LLC (Lundbeck), and Alexion Pharmaceuticals Inc. (Alexion) – have agreed to pay a total of $122.6 million to resolve allegations that they each violated the False Claims Act by illegally paying the Medicare or Civilian Health and Medical Program (ChampVA) copays for their own products, through purportedly independent foundations that the companies used as mere conduits.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - The former chief financial officer (CFO) of Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. (Roadrunner), a publicly traded transportation and trucking company formerly headquartered in Cudahy, Wisconsin, was charged in a superseding indictment unsealed Wednesday for his alleged role in a complex securities and accounting fraud scheme that resulted in a loss of more than $245 million in shareholder value. The superseding indictment also includes additional charges against two former Roadrunner finance executives for their roles in the scheme.

San Salvador - A week after President Trump announced cuts in federal aid to Central American countries, Governor Gavin Newsom today becomes the first California Governor to travel to the region, where he will examine root causes of migration and join the world community in being part of a solution to the challenges in El Salvador and Central America more broadly.
