Washington, DC - A highly sought after British fugitive was arrested April 24 in Ohio following an extensive international probe spearheaded by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), the U.S. Marshals Service and the Fugitive Division of Interpol Washington.
On April 24, members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force, and ERO tracked Peach Girling to a Waterville, Ohio residence, where he was arrested on immigration charges for violating the terms of the Visa Waiver Program. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal from the United States.
In January, British authorities issued an Interpol Wanted Person notice indicating that Girling had fled his native U.K. to avoid criminal prosecution connected to his alleged role as the operator of a complex online scam. Girling is a repeat offender with a decade’s worth of theft-related convictions in the U.K.
"I commend the exemplary work of ICE ERO, the U.S. Marshals, and the Fugitive Division at Interpol Washington for their efforts in leading the investigation against Mr. Girling,” said Interpol Washington Director Shawn Bray. “Girling's arrest is a strong example of the success law enforcement can achieve when we work together to apprehend transnational criminals. This collaboration across agencies and countries to share timely investigative information is at the heart of what we do each day at Interpol Washington."
ICE and Interpol Washington attributed the combined efforts of the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in apprehending this suspect.
