San Diego, California - It’s Halloween Month at Rooftop Cinema Club come October, which means area cinephiles will be treated to a stellar lineup of scary films sure to elicit shrieks and screams from even the heartiest of souls. It’s a fun-filled lineup loaded with horror, fantasy and drama films, sprinkled around a selection of comedies, musicals and rom-coms.

The thrills begin right out of the gate with Alec Baldwin and Winona Ryder starring in the cult-classic and fantasy-horror thriller that’ll also generate a few laughs, BEETLEJUICE, on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Played by Michael Keaton, Beetlejuice is a rambunctious spirit who no doubt will keep our guests on the edge of their seats.

BEETLEJUICE will enjoy a second run on Oct. 22, tipping off a nine-day stretch of horror films that lead right into Halloween when we’ll show what else but the 1978 classic itself, HALLOWEEN, featuring one of Hollywood’s most notorious throat slashers and murderers, the one-and-only Michael Myers. In-between, Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego’s guests will be treated to a run of horrific classics that include POLTERGEIST on Wed. Oct. 23; a 35th-Anniversary showing of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET featuring Freddy Krueger himself on Fri., Oct. 25, followed later that night by SCREAM; the 1973 classic that may very well be one of the scariest films of all-time, THE EXORCIST, on Sat. Oct. 26, and THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, which celebrates 20 years on the large screen just before Halloween on Wed., Oct. 30. The supernatural horror film PARANORMAL ACTIVITY which is set in San Diego, shines the spotlight on America’s Scariest City as well as it rolls off the projector on Sat., Oct. 26.

And while there’ll be plenty to shriek and scream about at Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego come October, we’ll continue to sneak in a few opportunities for the young ones to come out and have some fun as well as Rooftop Cinema’s Family Screenings continue every Sunday night in October. Adult-only (18-and-over) on most nights, Rooftop Cinema Club will open its doors and offer discounted tickets to kids ages 3-17 on Sunday nights with an October family lineup that includes Woody and the gang in TOY STORY 4 on Oct. 6; COCO on Oct. 13; HOCUS POCUS on Oct. 20, and HALLOWEENTOWN to get everyone ready for trick-or-treating on Oct. 27. Family screenings all begin at 8 p.m.

Long known for recognizing and celebrating “Women in Film,” in front of and behind the camera, Rooftop Cinema Club also continues that tradition in October with a lineup that features Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker in HOCUS POCUS on Fri., Oct. 4 and Tues. Oct. 29; Kaitlyn Dever and Beanie Feldstein in BOOKSMART, Olivia Wilde’s directorial debut, on Fri., Oct. 11; Robin Tunney and Fairuza Balk in THE CRAFT on Sat., Oct. 12, and Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman and Stockard Channing in PRACTICAL MAGIC, also on Sat., Oct. 12.

Additional October screenings which also deserve a large circle on the calendar include Elton John’s ROCKETMAN on Wed., Oct. 2 and Sat., Oct. 19 (sing-along version) and FAST AND FURIOUS’ HOBBS & SHAW on Thurs., Oct. 17.

Rooftop Cinema Club opens its doors nightly at 6:30 p.m. and films start at 8:00 p.m. on all nights except Friday and Saturday. On Fridays and Saturdays, Rooftop Cinema Club will continue its run of dual screenings (separate admission required) with the opening film set for 7 p.m. and the late screening set for 9:45 p.m. Tickets and information for all San Diego shows are available on the new Rooftop Cinema Club San Diego website: https://rooftopcinemaclub.com/san-diego/venue/manchester-grand-hyatt/.
