El Centro, California - On Sunday, July 28, 3:15 AM, El Centro Police Department Police Officers were dispatched to an alarm activation at a business located on the 600 block of Wake Avenue. Officers arrived on scene within a minute of the call being dispatched and found the front window had been smashed out. Evidence at the scene indicated something heavy had been dragged from the store. Officers suspected an ATM was taken. The business owner confirmed that someone had broken into his store and confirmed to officers that an ATM machine was taken.

At approximately 10 AM hours, officers were dispatched to U-Haul regarding a stolen vehicle report. One of their U-Haul trucks was stolen from the location the prior evening. Two suspects were seen stealing the keys from a lock box at the location. From U-Haul, the suspects drove the stolen truck to the business on Wake. The U-Haul was used to ram the front of the store, breaking the plate glass window storefront, and gained entry to the store. The suspects stole the ATM from the inside of the store, placed it inside the enclosed U-Haul truck, and drove way.

At approximately Just prior to 2:00 PM hours, the stolen U-Haul truck was recovered in the north alley of 1800 Ocotillo Drive, near De Anza School. The remnants of the ATM were located inside the rear of the enclosed U-Haul truck. The suspects dismantled the ATM and removed the cash container from the machine. This case will be forwarded to the El Centro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division for further investigation. The stolen U-Haul was towed to the ECPD for evidence processing.
