Sacramento, California - Governor Gavin Newsom today announced the following appointment:

Bob Archuleta, 74, of Pico Rivera, has been appointed to the Governor’s Military Council. Archuleta has served as a California State Senator since 2018. He was elected to the Pico Rivera City Council in 2007, serving as mayor of the city from 2012 to 2013, and from 2017 to 2018. He served as an officer at the Montebello Police Department from 1988 to 1998 and served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1963 to 1966. From 1984 to 2011, Archuleta was a member of the Los Angeles County Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs and became a presidential appointee to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point in 2013. Archuleta is chair of the California State Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Archuleta is a Democrat.
