Calabasas, California - The Calabasas City Council is pleased to announce that it has selected current Calabasas Chief Financial Officer Dr. Gary J. Lysik to serve as City Manager, replacing the retiring Tony Coroalles. Contract negotiations with Dr. Lysik have been concluded, and the contract will now be placed on the City Council’s August 8, 2018 public agenda for approval.

“I am thrilled to have been selected as the City of Calabasas’ next City Manager, and I look forward to continuing to serve the community in this new capacity,” said Dr. Lysik.

“I am very pleased that the City Council has selected Dr. Lysik to become our new City Manager,” added Calabasas Mayor Fred Gaines. “His wealth of experience, knowledge, and deep commitment to our City and its residents will make him a tremendous asset to Calabasas in his new position.”

Lysik has been the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Calabasas since December 2003. Working in this capacity he supports all aspects of Calabasas' finance, including providing executive leadership to the Finance Department which involves oversight for the circulation of money, budget preparation, and management of investments and banking activities.

Prior to joining the City, Dr. Lysik served as the Director of Finance for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority. Lysik's professional tenure includes previous work as Vice-President of Finance at Reinstatement Services, Inc., and as the Director of Financial Systems for Edison Security, a subsidiary of Edison International. Prior to Edison, Gary served Northrop-Grumman Corporation as a manager in the Program Office and Finance Department. Having completed his Doctorate degree in Educational Technology at Pepperdine University, Dr. Lysik also holds a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) in Business Management and a Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) in Business Administration.

In addition to American citizenship, Lysik also holds Italian citizenship. He enjoys flying helicopters, traveling, golfing, playing tennis, hiking, rollerblading, and spending time with his wife of 33 years and two sons.
