Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Jessica Cruz, 34, of Carmichael, has been appointed to the Council on Mentally Ill Offenders. Cruz has been executive director at the National Alliance on Mental Illness, California since 2010. She was director of development at the Sacramento Waldorf School from 2007 to 2009, executive director at the Muscular Dystrophy Association from 2005 to 2007, political action campaign coordinator at the California Hospital Association from 2004 to 2005 and director of media outreach at the California Broadcasters Association from 2003 to 2004. Cruz is a member of the California Social Worker Education Center Mental Health Committee and the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development Workforce Education and Training Advisory Committee. Cruz earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of San Francisco. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cruz is a Democrat.

Kathleen Wright, 65, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Board of Accountancy. Wright has been a professor at Golden Gate University since 2012. She was a professor at California State University, Fullerton from 2006 to 2012 and at California State University, East Bay from 1995 to 2006. Wright was a vice president at Citibank N.A. from 1973 to 1985 and a senior auditor at KPMG from 1971 to 1973. She is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Bar Association. Wright earned a Master of Laws degree in taxation from Golden Gate University, a Juris Doctor degree from Fordham University, School of Law and a Master of Business Administration degree in taxation from New York University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Wright is a Democrat.

Bobbie Anderson, 75, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, where she has served since 2012. Anderson served as a field representative for California State Assemblymember Mike Davis from 2006 to 2009, supervising legal office assistant at the Los Angeles County Public Defender’s Office from 1978 to 2003 and as a typist clerk at the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services from 1957 to 1968. Anderson was a member of the Legacy Service Employees International Union Local 660/721 Executive Board from 1995 to 2003. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Anderson is a Democrat.

Joseph Federico, 34, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, where he has served since 2011. Federico has been chief financial officer at the Federico Beauty Institute since 2009, where he has been a member of the board of directors since 2004 and was director of financial aid from 2006 to 2009. He is a member of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools and the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Federico is a Democrat.

Terry Bressler, 60, of Colusa, has been reappointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 1999. Bressler has been a district manager at the City of Colusa, Reclamation District 1004 since 2013. He was a field representative at CHS Inc. from 2009 to 2013, senior manager at Penny Newman Grain from 2006 to 2009 and a field representative at ADM Rice from 2004 to 2006, at Sun Foods from 1994 to 2004, at Depu Warehouse from 1989 to 1994 and at Newhall Land Farming from 1979 to 1989. Bressler is a member of the California Agricultural Leadership Program and Colusa Western Days. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Bressler is a Republican.

Laurie Costa, 48, of Maxwell, has been appointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2002. Costa has been manager at the Colusa Wellness Center since 2003 and partner and owner at G and L Farms since 1995. She was co-owner and director at Kids Country Preschool from 1996 to 2002 and a purchasing assistant at the Colusa Community Hospital from 1991 to 1996. Costa is a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Costa is a Democrat.

Tony Garofalo, 45, of Colusa, has been appointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2005. Garofalo has been a sergeant at the Colusa County Sheriff’s Office since 2008, where he has served in several positions since 1992, including deputy sheriff and correctional corporal. He is a member of the Colusa County Deputy Sheriff’s Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Garofalo is a Republican.

Susan Gibbs, 68, of Colusa, has been appointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2005. Gibbs has been a membership coordinator at the Colusa Wellness Center since 2003. She was a manager at the Chick Montgomery Store from 1982 to 2003. Gibbs is president of Colusa County Stagehands Theater Group, a member of the Garden Club of Colusa County and was president of the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce from 2005 to 2007. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gibbs is a Republican.

Victor Matamoros, 30, of Williams, has been appointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors. Matamoros has been an insurance agent at Brady Myers Insurance Associates LLC since 2009. He was a bank teller at Wells Fargo Bank from 2007 to 2009. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Matamoros is registered without party preference.

E. Dan O’Connell, 68, of Colusa, has been appointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2006. O’Connell has been owner of O’Connell Ranch since 1985. He served as the Colusa County assessor from 1973 to 2007. O’Connell is a member of the Glenn-Colusa County Cattlemen’s Association and the California Rangeland Trust. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. O’Connell is a Republican.

Jamie Traynham, 45, of Maxwell, has been appointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2006. Traynham has been an independent accounting and booking consultant since 1998. She was an agent at New York Life Insurance Company from 2005 to 2007, a controller at California Family Foods from 1995 to 1998 and an agricultural loan officer at Farm Credit Services of Colusa-Glenn from 1991 to 1995. Traynham is a member of the Westside Water District Board of Directors, California Angus Association Board of Directors, California Farm Bureau Federation, American Quarter Horse Association, American Angus Association and the California Cattlemen’s Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Traynham is a Republican.

Bob Vierra, 70, of Colusa, has been appointed to the 44th District Agricultural Association, Colusa County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2006. Vierra has been an owner at Vierra Brothers since 2006. He was an agriculture instructor for the Orland Unified School District from 1970 to 2003. Vierra is a member of the California Farm Bureau Federation. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Vierra is a Republican.

Brian Anderson, 50, of Carlsbad, has been reappointed to the State Mining and Geology Board, where he has served since 2014. Anderson has been vice president of property permitting and environment at Vulcan Materials Company since 2013, where he has held several positions since 2002, including director of environment, regulatory affairs and sustainable development, environmental affairs manager and area resources manager. He held several positions at Brown and Caldwell Inc. from 1994 to 2002, including program leader, operations manager and senior project manager. Anderson has been a California registered geologist since 2002. He earned a Master of Science degree in geological sciences from the University of California, Riverside. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Anderson is a Republican.

Stephanie Landregan, 62, of Glendale, has been appointed to the State Mining and Geology Board. Landregan has been program director of landscape architecture at the University of California, Los Angeles Extension since 2008. She served as division chief of landscape architecture at the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority from 1999 to 2008 and was a senior landscape architecture associate at Lawrence R. Moss and Associates from 1995 to 1999. Landregan was a landscape architecture designer at Landesign from 1993 to 1995, a planning graphic design associate at the Santa Monica City Planning Department from 1989 to 1993, a museum designer and fabricator at the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science from 1985 to 1989 and aerial photography manager at Bohannan Huston Inc. from 1982 to 1985. Landregan was a graphics designer at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology from 1980 to 1982 and a cartographer illustrator at the New Mexico Bureau of Mines and Mineral Resources from 1978 to 1979. She is a member of the City of Glendale Planning Commission and the Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards. Landregan was a member of the State of California Landscape Architects Technical Committee from 2002 to 2015. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Landregan is a Democrat.

Sandra Potter, 54, of Petaluma, has been appointed to the State Mining and Geology Board. Potter has been planning and environmental review division manager at the Sonoma County Permit and Resource Management Department since 2013. She was an engineering geologist at the San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board from 2001 to 2013 and principal scientist at LSA Associates from 1999 to 2001. Potter was a member of the El Cerrito City Council from 2002 to 2010. She earned a Master of Science degree in geology from Humboldt State University. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Potter is a Democrat.

Gideon Kracov, 43, of Los Angeles, has been named chair of the State Mining and Geology Board, where he has served since 2014.
