Davis, 42, of Paradise, was arraigned today in federal court, charged with wire fraud in a scheme to obtain bonuses for purportedly referring individuals to enlist in the California National Guard, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. Davis pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Sacramento, California - Lonnell McCarter, 39, of Sacramento, was sentenced today by United States District Judge William B. Shubb to 13 years and one month in prison for participating in a sex trafficking venture that involved a child prostitute, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced. After his release, McCarter will be subject to supervision for an additional twenty years.

Los Angeles, California - A Northern California man who defrauded 18 victims by selling website domains that he falsely claimed would generate substantial advertising revenue was sentenced today to 120 months in federal prison.

Washington, DC - The U.S. Department of Education today announced a nearly $570,000 grant to the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) to assist with ongoing mental health services following a shooting near the campus in May 2014. The immediate services grant, which is being made through the Department's Project School Emergency Response to Violence (SERV) program and administered by the Office of Safe and Healthy Students, will provide mental health support to the campus.
