Sacramento, California - One of the perks of my job as Secretary of Agriculture is my annual visit to several of our department’s offices in the Sacramento area. The holidays are a traditional time of giving and my staff at the California Department of Food and Agriculture fully embrace that spirit throughout the season by dreaming up and fulfilling charitable campaigns, “adopting” local non-profit organizations, and showing their support for the annual State Employees Food Drive.

Shanghai, China - Positioning California to attract a growing share of China’s massive foreign investment pool and bolstering California-China trade, the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development (GO-Biz) and the Bay Area Council today announced the hiring of Ken Petrilla as the new Executive Director of the California-China Office of Trade and Investment. Petrilla was previously the head of the China Desk for Wells Fargo, the largest bank in the United States by market cap.

Sacramento, California - Keon Jamar Nunnelly, 30, of Sacramento, was sentenced by United States District Judge John A. Mendez to 10 years and five months in prison, to be followed by a 10-year term of supervised release where he is required to register as a sex offender, for sex trafficking of a minor, United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.

Sacramento, California - California wildlife officer David Bess has been appointed the new chief of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Law Enforcement Division, CDFW Director Charlton H. Bonham announced. The position was recently vacated by the retirement of 33-year veteran wildlife officer, Chief Michael P. Carion.
