FDA approves first biosimilar for the treatment of certain breast and stomach cancers

Washington, DC - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Ogivri (trastuzumab-dkst) as a biosimilar to Herceptin (trastuzumab) for the treatment of patients with breast or metastatic stomach cancer (gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma) whose tumors overexpress the HER2 gene (HER2+). Ogivri is the first biosimilar approved in the U.S. for the treatment of breast cancer or stomach cancer and the second biosimilar approved in the U.S. for the treatment of cancer.

The Ross Sea in Antarctica is an area of unique biodiversity and one of the last unspoiled marine environments on the planet. This MPA will create special long-term opportunities for protecting marine life and for promoting marine scientific research.

Washington, DC - The J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board reelected Jeffrey L. Bleich as chair and elected former Senator Mark Pryor as vice chair for 2018 at its annual election held November 14, 2017. The 12-member Board was established by the U.S. Congress and is appointed by the President of the United States to oversee the worldwide Fulbright Program, for which the Board selects participants and sets policies. Their one-year terms of office begin on January 1, 2018.

Calexico, California - Yesterday, Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Investigators in collaboration with the United States Border Patrol and the San Diego Sheriff’s Department executed multiple search warrants on businesses located in Calexico, as part of Operation “Dead Ringer”. The search warrants were part of an ongoing investigation regarding the sale, manufacture, distribution, importation and purchase of counterfeit products, trademarks, logos and designs.
