Washington, DC - Nicholas Young, 38, of Fairfax, Virginia, and a former police officer, was sentenced Friday to 15 years in prison for attempting to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, and obstruction of justice.

Justice Department Obtains Over $2 Million for Servicemembers Who Terminated Their Motor Vehicle Leases With BMW Financial Services

Washington, DC - The Justice Department today announced that BMW Financial Services, N.A. (BMW FS) has agreed to pay over $2 million to resolve allegations that it violated the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA) by failing to refund a type of up-front lease payment to 492 servicemembers who lawfully terminated their motor vehicle leases early. This is the first case brought by the Department involving a motor vehicle lessor’s failure to refund lease amounts to servicemembers who exercised their SCRA rights to terminate their leases.

Washington, DC - The United States respects the decision by Venezuelan opposition parties, most recently the Democratic Unity Roundtable, to reject President Maduro’s terms and conditions for April presidential elections. We reject ruling party calls to replace the democratically elected National Assembly simultaneously, rather than in 2021, as provided for under the 1999 Constitution. Deepening the rupture of Venezuela’s constitutional and democratic order will not solve the nation’s crises.
