Sacramento, California - CDFA, the USDA and local government partners continue their work to eradicate a virulent Newcastle disease outbreak in Southern California. There now 106 cases of the disease that have been detected in backyard birds in California – 80 in San Bernardino County, 11 in Riverside County, 14 in Los Angeles County and one in Ventura County.

Washington, DC - As we all work to confront the staggering human and economic toll created by the opioid crisis, we recognize the critical role that health care providers play in addressing this public health priority – both in reducing the rate of new addiction by decreasing unnecessary and/or inappropriate exposure to opioids and ensuring rational prescribing practices, while still providing appropriate treatment to patients who have medical need for these medicines.
