Two Young Elephant Calves at San Diego Zoo Safari Park are Thriving with their Herd

Escondido, California - Two young elephant calves, a two-week-old female yet to be named and a nine-week-old male named Zuli, interacted with their keepers, their mothers and the rest of their herd at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park early Thursday morning. Keepers are keeping a watchful eye on their development, and say they are doing very well.

Washington, DC - Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook is traveling on October 10-17 to India and Europe to further discuss U.S. foreign policy toward Iran. In India, he and Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Francis R. Fannon will meet with Indian government counterparts for consultations; in Luxembourg, he will attend meetings with officials gathered for the European Union meeting of Ministers; in France, he and Bureau of Energy Resources officials will meet with the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency; and in Belgium, he will meet with EU counterparts to discuss the Iranian regime’s continued missile proliferation.

FDA approves new DNA-based test to determine blood compatibility

Washington, DC - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved ID CORE XT, a molecular-based assay used in blood transfusion medicine to help determine blood compatibility. The assay can be used to determine blood donor and patient non-ABO red blood cell (RBC) types. ID CORE XT is the second molecular assay approved for use in transfusion medicine, and the first to report genotypes as final results.
