Washington, DC - As the population ages, incidents of elder abuse increase, according to the World Health Organization. WHO estimates that almost 17% of seniors 60 years of age and older have experienced some form of abuse over the past 12 months.
FDA investigates whether more than 40 e-cigarette products being illegally marketed

Washington, DC - Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration sent letters to 21 e-cigarette companies, including the manufacturers and importers of Vuse Alto, myblu, Myle, Rubi and STIG, seeking information about whether more than 40 products – including some flavored e-cigarette products – are being illegally marketed and outside the agency’s current compliance policy. These new actions build on those taken by the FDA in recent weeks as part of its Youth Tobacco Prevention Plan to address the epidemic of youth e-cigarette use, including cracking down on the sale and marketing of e-cigarettes to kids and educating youth about the dangers of using these products.

Two Young Elephant Calves at San Diego Zoo Safari Park are Thriving with their Herd

Escondido, California - Two young elephant calves, a two-week-old female yet to be named and a nine-week-old male named Zuli, interacted with their keepers, their mothers and the rest of their herd at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park early Thursday morning. Keepers are keeping a watchful eye on their development, and say they are doing very well.

Washington, DC - Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook is traveling on October 10-17 to India and Europe to further discuss U.S. foreign policy toward Iran. In India, he and Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Francis R. Fannon will meet with Indian government counterparts for consultations; in Luxembourg, he will attend meetings with officials gathered for the European Union meeting of Ministers; in France, he and Bureau of Energy Resources officials will meet with the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency; and in Belgium, he will meet with EU counterparts to discuss the Iranian regime’s continued missile proliferation.
