Lawyer Charged with Fraud Related to 1 Global Capital Investment Scheme

Miami, Florida - A Florida attorney and former outside counsel for 1 Global Capital LLC (1 Global), has been charged Tuesday with conspiring to commit wire fraud and securities fraud in connection with an investment fraud scheme that as alleged impacted more than 3,600 investors in 42 different states, and involved him personally and fraudulently raising more than $100 million from investors.

Hartford, Connecticut - Connecticut list brokerage firm Macromark Inc. pleaded guilty to knowingly providing lists of potential victims to fraudulent mass-mailing schemes, the Department of Justice announced. The fraudulent schemes tricked consumers into paying fees for falsely promised cash prizes and purportedly personalized “psychic” services. Thousands of consumers lost millions of dollars to the schemes.

Washington, DC - Monday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation released its 2019 edition of Crime in the United States, which showed that violent crime decreased nationwide for the third consecutive year. After decreases in both 2017 and 2018, the violent crime rate dropped an additional one percent this past year and the property crime rate decreased 4.5 percent.
