JILA’s Superradiant Laser May One Day Boost Atomic Clocks and ‘Rulers’ for Space

Boulder, Colorado - JILA physicists have demonstrated a novel laser design based on synchronized emissions of light from the same type of atoms used in advanced atomic clocks. The laser could be stable enough to improve atomic clock performance a hundredfold and even serve as a clock itself, while also advancing other scientific quests such as making accurate “rulers” for measuring astronomical distances.

Imperial, California - The Imperial County Registrar of Voters Office is launching a new early voting program that will allow registered voters to cast their ballots prior to the November 8, 2016 Election Day from the Imperial County Department of Social Services Mobile Office. The Mobile Office is a 36 foot RV that will visit eleven different communities throughout Imperial County on designated days to make voting more convenient and accessible.
