Governor Schwarzenegger Issues Statement on Death of San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Collier Print E-mail

San Diego, California - Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today released the following statement regarding the death of San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Collier of Santee, CA:

“Maria and I were deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Deputy Ken Collier. He was an outstanding officer who committed himself to protecting the safety of his community and San Diego is a safer place because of his hard work. As Ken’s family and loved ones reflect back on his life, we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss.”

Deputy Collier, 39, died February 28, after succumbing to injuries sustained when his patrol car overturned during the pursuit of a wrong-way driver on State Route 52. The driver of the vehicle which was traveling the wrong way was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol. Deputy Collier is survived by his brother, Lauran Collier, sister, Nancy Robinson, and fiancée, Karen Li.

In honor of Deputy Collier, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
