Sacramento, California - California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today March 19th, 2008 announced the following appointments:Brian Cain, 64, of Cedarville, has been appointed to the Modoc District Fair Board of Directors (34th District Agricultural Association). He has served on the board of directors since 2006. Most recently, Cain served as a communication electrician for the Los Angeles Department of Water & Power from 1972 to 1998. He is a member of the Klamath Solar Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Cain is a Republican. Steve Blois, 56, of Camarillo, has been appointed to the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board. Since 2003, he has served as president of Valley Vista Consulting Incorporated, a construction industry consulting firm. From 1973 to 2003, Blois held various positions at Blois Construction Incorporated including co-president from 1997 to 2003, general manager from 1986 to 1997 and foreman, project manager, estimator and general support from 1973 to 1986. Prior to that, he was an apprentice, journeyman and pipelayer for Blois & Cardoza Incorporated from 1966 to 1973. Blois is a board member for the California State University Channel Islands Foundation, Boys' & Girls' Club of Camarillo and board member and secretary for the Crestview Mutual Water Company. He is also past president of the Associated General Contractors of California, management trustee for the Construction Laborers Health and Welfare Trust Fund and area volunteer for the California Central Coast American Field Service. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Blois is a Republican. Benjamin Clay, 62, of San Diego, has been appointed to the San Diego River Conservancy Governing Board. Since 1984, he has been a partner with Carpi & Clay Government Relations. From 1982 to 1984, Clay served as vice president of Torrey Enterprises Incorporated and, from 1976 to 1984, was director of governmental relations for San Diego County. From 1972 to 1976, he was a lobbyist for the City of San Diego and, from 1969 to 1972, served as a captain in the Medical Service Corp of the U.S. Army. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Clay is a Republican. Paul Figueroa, 35, of Oakland, has been appointed to the California Council on Criminal Justice. He has served at the Oakland Police Department since 1991. Since 2005, Figueroa has served as police captain and inspector general. He previously held various positions at the department including lieutenant from 2003 to 2005, police sergeant from 1999 to 2003, police officer from 1995 to 1999 and police cadet from 1991 to 1995. Figueroa is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, FBI National Academy Associates Incorporated, National Latino Peace Officers Association, National Forum for Black Public Administrators, California Master Instructors Association and the Institute of Internal Auditors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Figueroa is a Republican. Madelyn Glickfeld, 59, of Malibu, has been appointed to the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board. Since 1977, she has served as president of MJG Incorporated, a conservation planning and practice consulting firm. Additionally, Glickfeld has been a lecturer and researcher at the UCLA Institute of the Environment since 2004 and also from 1999 to 2000. From 2001 to 2003, she was assistant secretary at the California Resources Agency. Glickfeld is a member of the California Advisory Board for the Trust for Public Land and the board of Green Info Network Incorporated. She is a past member of the board of directors and immediate past vice chair of Heal the Bay. Glickfeld is also a past board member for the South Coast Wildlands Project, Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, Santa Monica Bay Restoration Project and California Coastal Commission. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Glickfeld is a Democrat. Seabern McDonald, 65, of Alturas, has been appointed to the Modoc District Fair Board of Directors (34th District Agricultural Association). He has served on the board of directors since 2002. McDonald has owned Seab's True Value since 1985 and Radio Shack in Alturas since 1998. He is a member of the Alturas Sunrise Rotary, Modoc County Sheriff's Posse and a board member of the Niles Theatre Acting Group. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. McDonald is a Republican. Diana Milton, 62, of Lake City, has been appointed to the Modoc District Fair Board of Directors (34th District Agricultural Association). She has served on the board of directors since 2002. Most recently, Milton was a contact representative for the Bureau of Land Management in Cedarville from 2001 to 2007. From 2000 to 2001, she served in the bureau's Alturas office as a contact representative and, from 1998 to 1999, was an assistant at the U.S. Forest Service. From 1997 to 1998, Milton was a clerk at Surprise Valley NAPA Auto Parts, from 1991 to 1997, she was office manager for Health Visions Home Care and, from 1986 to 1991, human resource specialist at Physicians' Community Hospital. She is a member of the Surprise Valley Chamber of Commerce and a committee member of the Modoc Super Bull Rodeo. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Milton is a Democrat. Maziar Movassaghi, 35, of Tustin, has been appointed deputy director of site mitigation and Brownfields Reuse Program for the Department of Toxic Substances Control. Most recently, he served as entitlement manager at Namco Capital Group Incorporated in 2007. From 2001 to 2007, Movassaghi worked for the city of Oakland as assistant development director and assistant to Mayor Jerry Brown from 2005 to 2007, legislative analyst from 2003 to 2005 and budget and operations analyst from 2001 to 2003. From 1998 to 2000, he was a graduate student instructor at the Goldman School of Public Policy, University of California, Berkeley and, in 1999, was a research assistant at the Haas Graduate School of Business, University of California, Berkeley. From 1996 to 1998, he was a wetland program coordinator and executive fellow for the California Resources Agency. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $110,000. Movassaghi is a Republican. Jeannine Primorac, 64, of Alturas, has been appointed to the Modoc District Fair Board of Directors (34th District Agricultural Association). She has served on the board of directors since 1994. Primorac has been a cook for the Modoc Medical Center since 2000. From 1994 to 2000, she was a cook for Gil's Burger Stop. Prior to that, Primorac owned Country Flowers from 1983 to 1993. She is a member of the Women's International Bowling Congress and the Big Valley Historical Museum. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Primorac is a Republican. Christy Quinlan, 55, of Sacramento, has been appointed chief deputy director of Information Technology Services for the Office of the State Chief Information Officer. Since 2004, she has served as deputy director of the information technology services division for the Department of Health Care Services. From 2002 to 2004, Quinlan was deputy director of the information services branch and chief information officer for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and, from 1998 to 2002, was data processing manager IV & III for CalPERS. From 1993 to 1998, she was technical project manager for Correctional Management Information System and, from 1990 to 1993, was network support manager for the Department of Motor Vehicles. Prior to that, Quinlan was manager of the state Electronic Data Processing Education program for the Department of General Services from 1986 to 1990 and information technology system analyst for the Franchise Tax Board from 1981 to 1986. From 1980 to 1981, she was an information technology system analyst for the Department of Social Services and, from 1972 to 1980, was a computer operator, data technician and information technology system analyst for the Department of Motor Vehicles. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $140,004. Quinlan is a Democrat. Kenneth Roberts, 44, of Alturas, has been appointed to the Modoc District Fair Board of Directors (34th District Agricultural Association). He has served on the board of directors since 2006. Roberts has owned K&K Distributing Incorporated, a wholesale food distributor company since 1993. Prior to that, he was a delivery driver for Intermountain Distributing from 1989 to 1993 and store manager for North State Grocery from 1988 to 1989 and held the same position for Better Buy Markets from 1979 to 1988. Roberts served in the Alturas Rural Fire Department from 1985 to 1983. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Roberts is a Republican. Carol Sharp, 68, of Alturas, has been appointed to the Modoc District Fair Board of Directors (34th District Agricultural Association). She has served on the board of directors since 2002. Sharp has owned Sharp Office Service since 2001 and owned and operated Sharp Hay Sales since 1994. From 1978 to 1981, she was public affairs specialist for the USDA Forest Service, Modoc National Forest. Sharp is director of the Modoc Economic Development Corporation and the Library Advisory Board of Modoc County. She is also a member of the Modoc Economic Vitality Group, Alturas Chamber of Commerce, Surprise Valley Chamber of Commerce, Warner Mountain Toastmasters, Friends of the Modoc County Library and the Emigrant Trails Scenic Byway Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Sharp is a Democrat. Renae Sweet, 36, of Cedarville, has been appointed to the Modoc District Fair Board of Directors (34th District Agricultural Association). Since 2006, she has served as an accounting supervisor and EMT for the Surprise Valley Health Care District. From 2005 to 2006, Sweet was bookkeeper for Modoc Motor Parts Incorporated and, from 2002 to 2005, was a billing clerk for Shannon Pump Company. From 1999 to 2002, she worked in quality control for TRACO Windows and, from 1996 to 1999, was a clerk and bookkeeper for Coast-to-Coast Hardware. Sweet is a member of the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Northern California Emergency Medical Services Organization. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Sweet is a Republican. |
