Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Claire Jahns, 33, of San Francisco, has been appointed assistant secretary for natural resources climate issues at the California Natural Resources Agency. Jahns has been project director at the Nature Conservancy since 2010. She was a summer associate at Ecosystem Capital LLC in 2009 and a carbon finance intern at Pacific Forest Trust in 2008. Jahns was a business development associate at the Chicago Climate Exchange from 2003 to 2007. She earned a Master of Environmental Management degree from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Yale School of Management. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100,548. Jahns is a Democrat.

Katie S. Hagen, 42, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director of operations at the California Department of Human Resources. Hagen has been chief of human resources at the California Public Employees’ Retirement System since 2011 and adjunct faculty at the University of San Francisco since 2000. She was deputy director at California Correctional Health Care Services from 2006 to 2011 and assistant deputy director at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2002 to 2006. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $148,260. Hagen is a Democrat.
