Washington, DC - Dr. Sarah Sewall, Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights, will travel to the United Kingdom and Norway, November 16–18.

While in the United Kingdom, Under Secretary Sewall will meet with government counterparts to discuss several shared priorities related to civilian security, including preventing and countering violent extremism, sexual violence in conflict, mass atrocities, and corruption. She will also deliver a lecture, “Getting Ahead of the Curve: The Evolution of Global Counterterrorism Strategy” at Pembroke College, Oxford University.

In Oslo, Under Secretary Sewall will meet with officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss collaborative efforts to counter violent extremism and prevent mass atrocities, sexual violence, and human rights abuses.
