Washington, DC - U.S. Chamber of Commerce Center for Advanced Technology & Innovation President Amanda Eversole today issued the following statement regarding introduction of the “Developing Innovation and Growing the Internet of Things (DIGIT) Act” in the Senate:

“The emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) opens the door to enormous opportunity for every sector of our economy, and the U.S. Chamber commends Sens. Deb Fischer, Kelly Ayotte, Cory Booker and Brian Schatz for coming together on the DIGIT Act.

“By creating a working group of relevant stakeholders to look at how the U.S. can best encourage growth in this area, this legislation recognizes the economic potential of the IoT and will help position the U.S. as a leader in this next chapter of the Internet.

“The U.S. Chamber believes we must take a sophisticated, supportive, and long-term approach to fostering our connected future. Unnecessary restrictions on this new innovative frontier risk limiting our future opportunities in the global marketplace. We look forward to working with Congress on this bill to ensure the U.S. maintains our edge in innovation.”
