New York, New York - AOL announced that it will renew four of its original web series for The AOL On Network, the company's premium video platform. Three of the shows returning for a second season bring back their first-season advertisers - with "city.ballet." from executive producer Sarah Jessica Parker returning with Citi and popular technology-themed shows "Hardwired" and "The Future Starts Here" pre-selling to first-season sponsor Verizon.
AOL also announced that its most popular show, #CandidlyNicole, starring fashion icon and social media maven Nicole Richie, will return to AOL for a second season this fall. The second season of Richie's AOL series will feature original, stand-alone content, separate from the topics and episodes airing on VH1, which announced it was picking up a long-form version of #CandidlyNicole last week.
In their first season, these four AOL series combined received more than 75 million views.
"The success these series have seen is on par with top tier cable programs reaching sizable audiences who are highly engaged, making them incredibly attractive for advertisers and establishing a viable alternative to place dollars," said Charles Gabriel, AOL's SVP of Global Video Sales. "We have seen a strong response from top brands looking to reach consumers they may be missing on TV and wishing to align with quality content that makes sense for their brand(s), making immediate decisions to renew against second seasons of 3 of our top programs before we could open them up for sale."

Produced by Pretty Matches Productions and Zero Point Zero Production, the series is sponsored by Citi.
"HARDWIRED 2.0" – Digital influencer Justine Ezarik (iJustine) is back. After covering the world of wearable tech last season, iJustine is expanding her coverage this year by profiling the hottest tech trends across the country. The show's second season topics will range from gaming to beauty tech and will showcase iJustine's trademark fun personality while featuring the latest trending topics. The series is sponsored by Verizon.
"THE FUTURE STARTS HERE" – Webby Awards founder and celebrated filmmaker Tiffany Shlain takes us on a series of wildly entertaining, daring, and inspiring rides that explore what it means to be human in an increasingly connected world. The series is sponsored by Verizon.
"#CANDIDLYNICOLE" – Fashion icon, creative director of House of Harlow 1960 and Winter Kate, and mom Nicole Richie brings her unfiltered sense of humor and unique perspective on life in a series based on her clever Twitter feed. "#CANDIDLYNICOLE" follows the outspoken host's daily insights as she shares her uncensored perspective on style, parenting, relationships and her journey through life. The series is produced by Telepictures and World of Wonder, with executive producers Nicole Richie and Michael Baum. Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato & Tom Campbell serve as executive producers for World of Wonder.
Each series will be available throughout the entire AOL On Network and across a selection of our 1,700 partner sites, in addition to the AOL Originals hub on.aol.com/originals. AOL's full slate of new original series for 2014 will be announced at the Digital Content NewFronts on April 29th in Brooklyn.
