Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Kevin McGuire, 34, of Los Angeles, has been appointed skilled nursing facility administrator at the Veterans Home of California, Barstow. McGuire was nursing home administrator at Country Villa Terrace Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living from 2014 to 2015 and at Country Villa Los Feliz Nursing Center from 2011 to 2014. He was assistant nursing home administrator at Golden Living Center, Fresno from 2008 to 2011. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $109,380. McGuire is a Democrat.

Chris Walter, 43, of Rancho Palos Verdes, has been appointed deputy director at the Veterans Home of California, West Los Angeles. Walter has served as an officer in the California Army National Guard since 2006. He was vice president of logistics for the Special Olympics World Games, Los Angeles in 2015 and a system engineer at Northrop Grumman Information Systems from 2006 to 2015. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $122,796. Walter is a Republican.

Donna Bojarsky, 56, of Los Angeles, has been reappointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where she has served since 2000. Bojarsky has been an editorial consultant at Los Angeles Magazine since 2008, director of the Foreign Policy Roundtable since 2006 and an advisor to Norman Pattiz since 1999. She was an advisor to Richard Dreyfuss from 1990 to 2003, and an administrative assistant in the Los Angeles Mayor’s Office from 1984 to 1986 and in California State Assemblymember Richard Katz’s Office from 1982 to 1984. Bojarsky is founder and chair of Future of Cities: Leading in LA. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Bojarsky is a Democrat.

Karla Crawford, 64, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where she has served since 2000. Crawford has served in several positions at the Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance since 1980, including program manager, director of the Foster Grandparent Program and eligibility worker. She is a member of the Sacramento County Department of Human Assistance’s Retired and Senior Volunteers Program Advisory Council, Senior Companions Program Advisory Council and the Foster Grandparent Program Advisory Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Crawford is a Republican.

Jeffrey Hoffman, 55, of Long Beach, has been appointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where he has served since 2005. Hoffman has been president at Jeff Hoffman and Associates since 2010 and a program director at the Conference Board’s Global Social Investing Council since 2014. He was vice president for worldwide outreach at the Walt Disney Company from 2001 to 2010, where he was director for employee services and corporate human resources from 1985 to 2001 and a member of Disneyland Theme Park Operations from 1978 to 1985. He is a member of Points of Light and the University of Southern California Center on Philanthropy and Public Policy. Hoffman earned a Master of Business Administration degree in education from Pepperdine University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Hoffman is a Republican.

Rita Holiday, 57, of San Jose, has been appointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where she has served since 2008. Holiday has been community engagement manager at Intel since 1997. She was community engagement manager at PageNet from 1991 to 1997 and branch manager at Olsten Professional Temporary Services from 1983 to 1991. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Holiday is a Democrat.

Kenneth Martinet, 74, of Glendale, has been reappointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where he has served since 2000. Martinet has been president and chief executive officer at Catholic Big Brothers Big Sisters since 1995. He was president and chief executive officer at Franciscan Communications from 1990 to 1995 and an independent real estate professional from 1987 to 1990. Martinet was founder, president and chief executive officer at St. Eligius Home Health Care from 1984 to 1987 and chief financial officer and senior vice president at Alpha Therapeutic from 1975 to 1984. He was a controller for Litton Data Systems at Litton Industries from 1967 to 1975. Martinet is a former secretary at the St. John's Seminary Board of Directors and a former member of the Los Angeles Archdiocese Youth Employment Program Advisory Board. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University, Northridge. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Martinet is a Republican.

Sharon D. O’Rourke, 67, of Playa del Rey, has been appointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where she has served since 2000. O’Rourke is franchise and fees manager at Southern California Gas Company, where she has held several positions since 1970, including public affairs manager and supervisor of right of way service. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. O’Rourke is a Republican.

Amanda Plasencia, 28, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Volunteers Commission. Plasencia has been a coordinator at Sacramento Charter High School since 2013. She was a science teacher for the Chelsea Public School District in Massachusetts from 2009 to 2012. Plasencia earned a Master of Education degree in prevention science and practice from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Master of Education degree in curriculum and instruction from Boston University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Plasencia is a Democrat.

David Wayne Porges, 52, of Pasadena, has been appointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where he has served since 2008. Porges has been national director for community engagement at Grant Thornton since 2015. He held several positions at Deloitte LLP from 1998 to 2015, including national director for corporate citizenship, brand and eminence, senior manager of the Pacific Southwest Region, the West Region and the National Office and manager of the Los Angeles Office. Porges held several positions at Coast Federal Bank, Federal Savings Bank from 1990 to 1998, including vice president of public affairs and corporate communications, assistant vice president of public affairs, senior public affairs officer and public affairs officer. He was a communications specialist at Home Savings of America from 1987 to 1990. Porges is co-founder and co-director at Los Angeles Community Leaders. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Porges is a Democrat.

Kimberly Quinones, 54, of Pacific Palisades, has been reappointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where she has served since 2014. Quinones was managing director and head of the Ramirez and Company Inc. Western Region of Public Finance from 2006 to 2012, director of public finance at Citigroup from 2000 to 2005 and vice president and manager of Raymond James and Associates’ New York Region from 1997 to 2000. Quinones was director of economic development in the Office of the New York Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Planning from 1996 to 1997. She was vice president of public finance at Citicorp Securities Inc. from 1992 to 1996 and at Bear Stearns from 1990 to 1991. Quinones is a member of the California Women Lead Board of Directors, Los Angeles Chapter of Women in Public Finance and a past president and member of the Financial Women’s Association of New York. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Quinones is a Republican.

Lisa Spinali, 52, of San Francisco, has been appointed to the California Volunteers Commission, where she has served since 2007. Spinali has been an independent consultant at Lisa Spinali Consulting since 2011. She was executive director at the San Francisco Education Fund from 2009 to 2011 and at the San Francisco School Volunteers from 2005 to 2009. She was vice president for civic engagement at the Omidyar Foundation from 2002 to 2004, founder and managing partner at Ripple Effect Consulting from 1997 to 2002 and program director and senior consultant at the Presidio Leadership Center from 1995 to 1997. Spinali was senior manager for consumer card group marketing and travel related services at American Express from 1990 to 1994, an executive on loan at the White House in 1993 and a banking services officer at the Wells Fargo Bank, Credit Card Division from 1985 to 1988.
