Washington, DC - The Secretary’s Office of Global Women’s Issues in association with the Institute for Inclusive Security will host “Collaborative Approaches to Global Security” at the Newseum on October 15 at 2 p.m.

The event will bring together women and men from U.S. defense and foreign policy communities with women leaders from more than 20 conflict-affected countries to focus on the importance of working collaboratively across sectors and borders to address today’s most pressing security threats.

The conversation occurs as the international community marks the fifteenth anniversary of the UN Security Council’s landmark resolution recognizing women’s vital roles in building peace and security. Despite growing evidence that women make a difference in creating secure and sustainable communities and countries, they are often absent from the places where decisions are made about the future. This event will offer concrete strategies to ensure that this work is inclusive and effective.

This event is open to press. It will also be livestreamed. Click here to learn more about the agenda.
