Washington, DC - Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Sarah Sewall will travel to Kazakhstan July 13-16.

In Kazakhstan, Under Secretary Sewall will travel to Astana and Almaty and meet with government officials, religious leaders, and representatives from civil society to discuss countering violent extremism and upholding human rights, including protections for journalists, civil society organizations, and individuals from the LGBTI community. Under Secretary Sewall will also hold a roundtable with members of the press in Almaty on Friday, July 15.
