El Centro Border Patrol Agents Arrest Wanted Felon Gang Member

Ocotillo, California - Monday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Station apprehended a felon gang member with an outstanding warrant when he attempted to make an illegal entry into the United States.

Border Patrol agents arrested a 27-year-old Mexican national as he entered the United States at around 10 p.m., approximately 17 miles west of the Calexico, California Port of Entry.

The man, later identified as Misraim Aguilar-Gutierrez, was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol Station. The agents discovered the man is a member of the “South Side Locos” street gang out of Concord which has strong ties to the “Surenos” criminal organization.

The gang member has an extensive criminal history including felony and misdemeanor convictions for obstructing a public officer, possession of a controlled substance, and probation violations.  He also has an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court for Possession of Dangerous Drugs from the Concord Police Department.

Aguilar is in Border Patrol custody and will be criminally prosecuted for illegal re-entry into the United States after being ordered removed in 2007.  This is the 19th gang member arrest in the El Centro Sector area this year.
