Calexico, California - Customs and Border Protection officers at the Calexico downtown port of entry arrested a 26-year-old woman after discovering almost a pound of heroin concealed in her underwear.
On June 11, shortly before 11 a.m., a CBP officer encountered the U.S. citizen woman after she entered the port on foot and referred her for a more in-depth investigation.
During the inspection, a CBP narcotics detector dog alerted to the woman, leading officers to the discovery of a single wrapped package concealed in her underwear.
The substance inside the package field-tested positive for heroin, and has a street value of almost $9,000.
The woman, a resident of Calexico, was arrested and turned over to the custody of Homeland Security Investigation agents for further processing. She was later transported to the Imperial County Jail to await arraignment.
CBP seized the narcotics.
