Calexico Border Patrol Agents Arrest Felon Gang Member

Calexico, California - Sunday, U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico station apprehended a dangerous felon gang member attempting to make an illegal entry into the United States.

Border Patrol agents arrested a 39-year-old Mexican national as he entered the United States illegally from Mexico at around 1:37 p.m.  Agents arrested the man near a busy shopping area north of the border fence in downtown Calexico.   

The man, later identified as Carlos Yee-Yescas, and was transported to the Calexico Border Patrol station where it was revealed he was an active member of a street gang out of Indo, which has strong ties to the “Surenos” criminal street gang.  This is the 13th gang member arrest in the El Centro Sector area this year.

The gang member is a convicted felon for shooting a firearm at a dwelling and vehicle in Riverside County, causing great bodily harm; he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.  Yee has previous convictions related to obstruction of a police officer, possession of a firearm and controlled substance.

Yee is in Border Patrol custody and will be criminally prosecuted for re-entry of alien.
