Renewable Energy Summit Scheduled

Imperial, California - The 7th Annual Imperial Valley Renewable Energy Summit will expand its scope and delve into compelling new renewable energy opportunities when it is held March 12-14, 2014.

The theme for the event is “California’s Future: Powered by Imperial Valley.” As in previous years, the event will be held in the Imperial Valley, where the development of more than 2,000 megawatts of geothermal, solar and wind energy developments has propelled the region into the spotlight as the renewable energy capital.

This year, the summit will move back to the Quechan Resort in Winterhaven, which was an extremely popular venue with past conference attendees. The location will facilitate expanding a business exposition area adjacent to the conference meeting facilities.

The Summit will feature talks by experts covering a range of topics pertinent to the current state of the renewable energy industry, a business trade show, a networking reception, banquet and a golf tournament. Speakers will address issues concerning energy, the environment and the economy in the Imperial Valley, which studies estimate has the potential to produce more than 25,000 megawatts of renewable energy.

This year, the Summit will pay special attention to opportunities surrounding the Salton Sea and plans to harness and transmit renewable energy potential in the vicinity to meet increasing energy needs and finance efforts to clean up the sea.

Hosted by the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corp., this year’s Summit is presented by the Imperial Irrigation District.
