Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez Encourages Community to Attend Environmental Health Leadership Summit

Imperial, California - State Assemblymember V. Manuel Pérez invites community members to attend the 5th Annual Environmental Health Leadership Summit, to be held this Saturday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Imperial Valley College. The Summit is free and open to the public.
The annual event gathers stakeholders from throughout the region to address important local environmental health concerns. The keynote speakers planned for the day include John McCaull, the attorney representing the Calexico New River Committee; Michael Cohen, Senior Associate at the Pacific Institute; Jenny Quintana, Associate Professor of Public Health at San Diego State University; and Paul Jacobs, Chief of Diesel Programs Enforcement for the CalEPA Air Resources Board.
The day will include a series of panels and workshops discussing issues such as the Salton Sea, renewable energy, and reducing border pollution. During the lunch program, Pérez will be making a special presentation to the organizers of the event. Local agencies and nonprofits will also be present staffing resource and information tables. The annual event is organized by Comite Civico Del Valle, a nonprofit organization working on environmental health and justice issues in Imperial County.
