Indio, California - Imperial Irrigation District is sponsoring an Operation Lamp Exchange event in Indio for its Coachella Valley customers to help them save energy and money. The program allows IID residential customers to exchange up to five halogen and incandescent plug-in lamps per household for new Energy Star-qualified fluorescent lamps while supplies last.
The lamp exchange will be held Saturday, Nov. 2 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Kmart parking lot at 81691 Highway 111, Indio.
Energy Star-qualified lighting uses about 75 percent less power than traditional incandescent bulbs and lasts at least six times longer. Changing one light bulb can save more than $40 over its lifetime in electricity costs. Energy Star-qualified lighting generates 75 percent less heat and is safer to operate and can cut home cooling costs.
The free lamp exchange offer is open to IID residential customers, who must be at least 18 and bring their IID bill and official California ID. For further information about IID's sponsored Operation Lamp Exchange, please visit www.iid.com/lampexchange, or call at 1-760-482-3673.
