Imperial, California - On September 27, the Imperial County Public Health Department appeared before the Imperial County Board of Supervisors seeking direction regarding non-profit food vendors, community kitchens and community fund- raising events including the extent to which Environmental Health fees that cover the costs of services and required inspections should be reduced.
The Board has requested that the Public Health Department host a Community Forum for the purpose of listening to the concerns and working collaboratively with local vendors to identify solutions that will ensure the provision of wholesome and healthy foods to our community. The feedback from local event organizers, vendors, non-profit agencies and interested members of the public is very important to this process. The county processes require that the Public Health Department provide feedback to the Board of Supervisors within 30 days because this request is related to an ordinance.
For that reason, two community forums have been schedule to be held this week: Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in Calexico and Thursday, October 3, 2013 in Imperial.
