Imperial, California - The Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors has approved a number of rebate increase incentives, the addition of two new qualifying energy efficiency measures and a modification to the attic insulation rebate requirement. The changes were made to make energy saving investments more accessible for IID customers.
Incentive amounts were increased for qualifying refrigerators ($125 per unit), room air conditioners ($100 per unit), attic fans (from $100 up to $150 per unit) and air conditioners (from $250 up to a maximum of $500 per ton). The district will also incentivize qualifying radiant barrier (30 cents per square foot) and evaporative coolers ($300 per unit) for residential customers. In addition, the attic insulation rebate will now be available to more customers; residences that have existing insulation measuring 7 inches or less can now qualify for rebates.
"Our customers understand the value of investing in energy-efficient products; however, are often unable to do so because of the initial cost," said Jamie Asbury, interim deputy energy manager. "IID's rebate program is designed to assist customers beyond initial cost considerations so that they may realize long-term energy cost savings."
The incentives offered through IID's Energy Rewards Program are funded by the public benefits charge, which is collected on all energy bills. IID's 2013 budget for the Energy Rewards Program totals $1.6 million.
