Calexico, California - U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Calexico Station apprehended a dangerous sex offender early this morning in a populated area in Calexico.
The incident occurred east of the Calexico West Port of Entry, at approximately 4 a.m., when agents encountered a 41-year-old male citizen of El Salvador attempting to illegally enter the United States.
Border Patrol agents identified the man as Tomas Esteban Quevedo, a convicted sex offender, guilty of sex with minor in San Mateo. He was sentenced to serve six months in jail and was removed from the United States in April 2003.
The convicted sex offender is being held by the U.S. Border Patrol and will be prosecuted for re-entry after being removed.
