El Centro, California - The Imperial County Board of Supervisors released the Application and Guidelines for the Imperial County Community Benefit Program, now available on the county’s website.  Additionally, the Board allocated $1 million to be distributed during the first round of Community Benefit Program awards through March 2017.

“It is important to proceed with the process of receiving applications and identifying projects that will benefit the community while achieving the goals and objectives that we originally outlined in the development of the Public Benefit Program,” stated Chairman Jack Terrazas, District 2 Supervisor.  “We are looking for projects that create jobs, improve infrastructure and economic development and enhance the quality of life in Imperial Valley.”

The Application and its Guidelines are available to review and print from the County website.  Hardcopies are also available to pick up at the County Executive Office, 940 West Main Street, Suite 208, El Centro, CA.   Applications can be submitted at any time after Friday, April 8, 2016 and shall continue to be accepted depending upon the availability of funds.  Applications will be evaluated by the Community Benefit Advisory Committee and recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for independent review and final approval.

The Community Benefit Program was developed in an effort to maximize the benefits of solar energy development in Imperial County while assisting community improvement projects for its residents.
