El Centro, California - Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia invites business owners, entrepreneurs, and individuals who would like to start a business and learn how to comply with California’s complex tax laws to attend a free Small Business Seminar in Imperial Valley tomorrow Thursday, March 5.

Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia is co-sponsoring this event with California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Member Diane L. Harkey, State Senator Ben Hueso, the City of El Centro, the El Centro Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center.

“I want our small businesses to grow and prosper in the Valley. California is open for business. My partnership with the State Board of Equalization for this year’s Imperial Valley Small Business Seminar and Resource Expo will provide local businesses with valuable business tools and growth opportunities through access to valuable state assistance.” said Garcia.

Representatives from the BOE, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, and the Small Business Development Center will offer presentations on sales and use tax basics, forms of ownership, understanding the differences between an employee or independent contractor, U.S. Small Business Administration loan program and services, proper recordkeeping, and marketing your business.
